Root planing

A treatment of periodontal disease that involves scraping the roots of a tooth to remove bacteria and tartar.

Flap Surgery

In advanced periodontal disease, when scaling and root planing have been unsuccessful, in eliminating the entire pocket, or when there has been bone loss that needs to be surgically corrected, then the dentist may perform periodontal flap surgery.
